INOBLA, the Innovative Bioreactor for Large Amplification

The INOBLA principle

Based on the principle of the Earth’s rotation, researchers at CNRS (IRPHE-Université́ Aix-Marseille) and PLANKTOVIE came up with the idea of developing a mixing system that is both efficient and ultra-gentle, which enables, for the first time, the cultivation of unicellular microalgae (Dinoflagellates spp) known to be extremely sensitive to shear forces.

The result of this collaboration is a bioreactor that is particularly well-suited to the cultivation of sensitive cells. The performance of this bioreactor has led us to adapt the principle of this technology to the sensitive cells involved in the cell therapies of the future, to meet the enormous challenge of producing iPS, T, NT and CAR cells, the leaders of tomorrow’s new medicine.
